Classroom Culture & Expectations

When COVID-19 hit in March 2020, Generation Teach quickly pivoted. When we say “quickly,” we mean we exchanged 9-months of planning in-person summer academy for 2-months of planning virtual summer academy. However, we continued to build our program as we launched, solved problems as they arose, while finding new ways to spread love, hope, and a strong sense of community.

Through feelings of uncertainty, a beautiful representation of what happens when you place the needs of others above your own emerged. Our kids needed a sense of normalcy and our community needed options. We built a program that provides both without losing the loving culture that is innately “GT".

In this three part series, we will share some of our learnings from summer 2020. This guide discusses how to start the year strong and maintain a strong sense of classroom culture.
